Transit has indicated that its preferred option is a tunnel connecting the toll plaza area on the northern side of the harbour to a southern connection beneath the Wynyard Quarter along the Daldy St alignment which is in conflict with Council's proposed development on Wynyard Quarter.

A joint study will be undertaken over the 2007/2008 period by Auckland City Council, Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA), Auckland Regional Council, Transit New Zealand and North Shore City Council with the aim of developing a regional agreement on the form, function and location of any future crossing.

Recommending that participation in the joint regional study be noted and that a primary representative along with an alternate be nominated for the Northern Corridor steering group. Further noting that approximately $250,000 of the 2007/2008 Transport Strategy operational expenditure budget will be diverted to the study.
