REPORTS REQUESTED/PENDING
That the Reports Requested/Pending report of the Acting
Committee Manager dated 26 July 2005, be received.

2004/2005 YEAR END: UTILITY PLANNING REPORT
- That the 2004/2005 Year End: Utility Planning Report
be received.
- That the General Manager, City Development and the
Manager, Utility Planning be authorised to conclude a memorandum of
understanding with Watercare Services Limited and Metrowater Limited regarding
Watercare's Project Hobson.

DRAFT WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN - ISTHMUS SECTION
That it be a recommendation to Council:
- That the Auckland City draft Waste Management Plan
2005 - 2010 Isthmus Section be released for public consultation, in accordance
with the special consultative procedure.
- That the Chairman Councillor Abel and Councillors
Boyle and Christian be delegated to hear the public submissions on Auckland
City's draft Waste Management Plan 2005-2010 Isthmus Section, and work with
council officers to review the draft Auckland City Waste Management Plan
2005-2010 Isthmus Section.

SAFESWIM PROGRAMME FOR THE 2004/2005 SUMMER SEASON AND WINTER
PILOT SURVEY ON BEACH WATER QUALITY
That the Works and Services Committee:
-
- Endorse the continued monitoring of
bathing beach water over the 2005-2006 summer season in conjunction with North
Shore City Council and Rodney District Council.
- Endorse the continuation of the Safeswim
communication programme over the 2005-2006 summer season.
- Approve the inclusion of Home Bay and Ladies
Bay in the Safeswim programme.
- Approve the erection of permanent health warning
signs on Cox's Bay beach until such time as the combined sewer systems in the
catchment have been upgraded.
- Approve the withdrawal of Port Fitzroy from the Safeswim programme and request the Great Barrier Community Board to recommend an
alternative beach to be included in the programme.
- That the resolutions of the Works and
Services Committee and the report of the Environmental Health Officer, dated 20
July 2005, regarding the Safeswim Programme For The 2004/2005 Summer Season and
Winter Pilot Survey On Beach Water Quality, be referred to the Chairperson and
Members of the Environment, Heritage and Urban Form Committee for their
information.
- That the Group Manager Auckland City Environments
be requested to report on the Auckland Regional Council's (scheduled for
November 2005) decision regarding the placement of permanent beach warning signs
on Manukau Harbour beaches to the Works and Services Committee in December 2005.

INORGANIC COLLECTION 2005 SERVICE REVIEW
That the report of the Manager, Resource Recovery, dated 15
July 2005, regarding the successful completion of Auckland City's 2005 inorganic
rubbish collection, be received.

AUCKLAND CITY WASTE EDUCATION STRATEGY
- That it be a recommendation to Council that the
Auckland City Council Waste Education Strategy Forward to Zero Waste document,
be endorsed.
- That the Works and Services Committee approve the
2005/2006 financial year Action Plan as prioritised from the Waste Education
Strategy, including:
- the WasteWise Schools Programme.
- encouraging schools to enter the Enviroschools Awards.
- the 'Power of One' bundling campaign to
increase recycling awareness.
- developing a waste separation game for
schools.
- continuing with the Create Your Own
Eden composting programme.

PROGRESS REPORT ON RESULTS OF WASTE COLLECTION CHANGES
That the Senior Policy Analyst continue to report to the
Works and Services Committee on trends in waste reduction, on a six-monthly
basis.

UPDATE ON THE AUCKLAND BUSINESS CARE ENVIROMARK
PROGRAMME
- That the Works and Services Committee endorse the
continued participation of Auckland City Council in the Auckland Business Care Enviromark Programme.
- That the report of the Senior Policy Analyst, dated
21 July 2005, regarding the Auckland Business Care Enviromark Programme, be
referred to the Chairperson and Members of the Economic Development and
Sustainable Business Committee for their information.

98 GRAMPIAN ROAD HEARING OF OBJECTION TO NOTICE TO INSTALL A
DRAIN
That the Works and Services Committee approve the abandonment
of the proposed utility works through 98 Grampian Road, St Heliers.
