There were no requests to speak in public forum.

There were no new members or resignations
received for this meeting.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

That the verbal report of the Chairman be
received regarding the following, the Chairman:
- has been accepted onto the Pacific
Island governance working party.
- attended the Rotary Youth Leadership
camp with Melanie Cripps and Louise Phyn. He found the experience to be very
motivating and worthwhile.
- has been campaigning for the Labour
Party.

Louise Phyn and Melanie Cripps tabled their
members' updates.

Further updates were received from the following:
7.1 Simon Dennerly
- has a meeting with Auckland Regional Council (ARC)
Chairman and CEO to discuss establishing a regional youth forum.
7.2 Pamela Mills
- finished exams.
- campaigning for Labour Party.
- waitressed at a Labour Party fundraising dinner which
was attended by the Prime Minister.
- Youth Law.
- wants to do a project to raise awareness about
upcoming election.
7.3
Sam Beanland
- did radio interview.
- has become a university guide.
- applying for the regional Students Against Driving
Drunk (SADD) position.
7.4 Amanda Chen
- apologised for not attending had exams.
- participated in Maori health week.
7.5 Sinovita Tonga
- apologised for not handing in a members' update.
- has completed her exams.
- has been very involved in the church youth group.
- held a variety show last weekend.
7.6 Samson Tonga
- involved in the Wesley Advisory Group.
7.7 Abhijit Mitra
- involved with Red Cross encouraging more youth
involvement in Red Cross.
- also had exams.
7.8 Pelema Taulapapa
- Pelema Taulapapa and Melanie Cripps will be
giving a thank you speech to Auckland Central Rotary club for sponsoring them to
attend the Rotary Youth Leadership camp.
- a thank you letter from the Auckland City Youth
Council will also be forwarded to the Auckland Central Rotary Club.

COMMUNITY ADVISOR'S UPDATE
The Community Advisor raised the following points in addition to
the agenda item:
- Logo
- Members asked that the Auckland City Youth Council logo be
discussed at the informal meeting on Monday, 25 July 2005 4.30pm 5.00pm.
- Website
- Profiles for the website are required from the following
members: Amanda Chen, Josephine Fok, Natasha Sarkar and Simon Dennerly.
- Information Request
- Kyla Hansel requested information on what is going on in
relation to youth. Louise Phyn agreed to formulate a response. Steve Peterson
handed Louise Phyn a copy of the e-mail.

AUCKLAND CITY YOUTH COUNCIL ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 2004-2005 FINANCIAL
YEAR

That the Executive be delegated the authority to write the
report on the achievements of the Auckland City Youth Council for the 2004/2005
financial year and that the report be forwarded direct to the Community
Development and Equity Committee for its August meeting.

PROJECT UPDATES
10.1 CENTRAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS
Pamela Mills suggested the Auckland City Youth Council undertake
a project in relation to the central government elections. Pamela felt a project
could be developed around encouraging more youth to participate.
Ideas mooted were:
- Encourage youth to enrol and vote
- text campaign
- members one-on-one with at least ten people
- Encourage youth to access information on the different
parties
- possibly providing links to the political parties on the
Auckland City Youth Council website
- Issues pertinent to youth
To be discussed at the informal meeting
on Monday, 1 August 2005 4.30pm at Youthtown.
10.2 LIQUOR BILL
Discussion ensued on establishing a project team to develop a
submission on the Liquor Bill.

- That a project team be established to canvas
young peoples' views and develop a submission on the Liquor Bill.
- That Pelema Taulapapa, Aritra Ray, Louise Phyn,
Amanda Chen, Melanie Cripps, Pamela Mills, Sam Beanland, Sean Taylor and Jeremy
Lees-Green be appointed to the Liquor Bill project team.

10.3 CONVERSE '05
Aritra Ray advised that there will be a Converse '05 follow up
in September (date to be advised). He encouraged members to support this ongoing
project by attending the follow-up session.
There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at
5.43pm.
