  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    4.1. YOUTH EXPO 2007 – NATALIE MORGAN

    Natalie Morgan was unable to attend the meeting.

    4.2 SHORT FILM INITIATIVE – JORDAN DODSON

    Jordan Dodson, Oliver Page and Daisy Lawless were present to answer further questions from the Auckland City Youth Council regarding the short film initiative "The Bridge". They tabled an outline of the project and a letter confirming the Auckland District Health Board's support.

  8. Top COMMUNITY ADVISOR'S UPDATE

    That the Community Advisor's Update report dated 5 October 2005 be received and that the review date for the Executive Committee be extended from December 2005 to March 2006.

  9. Top PROJECT UPDATES

    9.1 CONVERSE '05 UPDATES

    Louise Phyn gave a verbal report on the Converse '05 follow up forum held on Thursday, 29 September 2005 at Ellen Melville Hall. It was noted schools are involved with exams at this time of the year so the turn out was lower than they would have liked.

    A social event will be organised over the next few months. A pool party has been suggested. The first planning meeting for this event will be held on Thursday, 1 December 2005.

  10. Top SHORT FILM INITIATIVE

    The Youth Council raised the following concerns:

    • The families haven't been contacted and permission sought.
    • No contingency plan if families don't agree.
    • The scripts appear to be presumptuous.
    • The script could be seen as judgemental and one sided – it does not show the victim's side.
    • What accountability is there by the project team to the Auckland City Youth Council.
    • How is the $15,000 going to be spent.
    • Will this film help youth to empathise.
    • Will there be problems by showing a biased film to school children.

    1. That the verbal report of Louise Phyn on the Short Film Initiative be received.
    2. That a letter be written to Jordan Dodson, Oliver Page and Daisy Lawless thanking them for bringing this project to the Auckland City Youth Council's attention explaining the Youth Council's concerns.

    CARRIED

    John Osborne wished his abstention from voting to be recorded.

    There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 5.35 pm.
