    4.1 AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (AUSA)– PAMELA MILLS

    Pamela Mills, ex-member of Auckland City Youth Council, addressed the Auckland City Youth Council committee regarding activities she is involved in the Auckland University Students Association (AUSA).

    That Pamela Mills be thanked for her presentation on her involvement in Auckland University Students Association at Auckland University.

  6. Top COMMUNITY ADVISOR'S REPORT

    The Community Advisor tabled a letter from the Ministry of Youth Development and spoke to it regarding results of nationwide with local government and youth councils on youth participation in decision-making at the local government level.

  7. Top MEMBERS' UPDATE

    Further members' updates were received at the meeting.

    7.1 Zachary Castles

    • The LTCCP submission from the Auckland City Youth Council was good.
    • Would like to recognise Guanting Liu for her excellent leadership on this project
    • Currently involved in the 2001 United Nation (UN) international for non-violence essay and live together, tolerance and diversity essay contest. The contest is divided into 2 categories
    • Inviting all youth member to a short film screening which was created by young people at the Academy cinema on 7 August at 7pm.

    7.2 Jayran Mansouri

    • Would like to express her heartfelt sympathy to Steve Peterson
    • Working on new ideas for the Converse project.
    • Currently doing some volunteering work for OXFAM instead of fundraising for them.

    7.3 Stewart Hall

    • Would like to delete the last phrase of the 1st paragraph of his member's update
    • Highlighted Sean's update which was a good point for further consideration regarding intercity youth council (10:2)
    • Pointed out on the second paragraph regarding problems that needed to be addressed. He is not sure whether other groups are putting sufficient effort on this issue. Information must be provided for people to identify the problems.
    • He noted that it could be a culture problem. We need to identify what is the conflict and inform international students of the issue and culture acceptance in the society
    • There is a need to understand the culture of things are done over here.

    7.4 Sean Taylor

    • Discussed about the intercity youth council idea. He has visited the North Shore converse summit
    • The intercity youth council was held nation wide; every city has their own summit. He has not visited any but only to the debriefing in Waitakere and North Shore.
    • He has talked to representatives about the concept of meeting other youth members but only on occasional level.
    • There is a need to move this idea into a project. This will be in the next training, to learn about different processes and ideas and also networking.

    7.5 Sam Beanland

    • not having as many verbal updates
    • We gave a verbal submission on the liquor bill. It was easier to talk rather than to write down
    • Will be talking at a radio station in Hawkes Bay.

    7.6 Aritra Ray

    • Attended the developing world conference.

    7.7 Dexter Henderson

    • His computer was playing up on him.
    • He was very impressed with Melanie, Guanting and Zachary on the LTCCP submission
    • He congratulated Zachary for making his own submission
    • Played a rugby match at Waiheke island. His team won 28-0 with a winning streak of 5 wins and 0 losses.

    7.8 Hyo Jung-Kim

    • Inviting everyone to the Womens' Peace Conference on Saturday, 1st July. The conference will be about the role of achieving world peace.

    9.1. YOUTH INTERFAITH PROJECT

    Abigael Vogt addressed the Auckland City Youth Council regarding the Interactive Community Forum on Interfaith Initiatives in Auckland.
