POLICE YOUTH SERVICES CO-ORDINATOR - ALLAN ROWLAND

Allan Rowland discussed issues of groups of anti-social youths banding
together. Glen Innes, Avondale and Wesley are problem areas in Auckland City.
In response to questions about parental responsibility, Allan responded that it
was difficult with 16 and 17 year olds, a proportion of whom came from outside
the Auckland area.
That Mr Allan
Rolland, Police Youth Services Co-ordinator, be thanked for his presentation on
topics relating to youth gang issues.

Jenny Coquilat from
Safer Auckland City spoke about issues relating to alcohol, including youth
access to alcohol, and advised that Auckland City works with the Police and the
District Licensing Agency. Research commissioned by Auckland City and completed
in June 2006, reviews issues related to alcohol and the effectiveness of liquor
bans. Jenny explained the alcohol accords and what those entailed. There was a
general discussion with members relating to liquor advertising and its effects.
That Ms Coquilhat
from Safer Auckland City be thanked for her presentation on issues relating to
alcohol, including youth access to alcohol.
