  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    4.1DANA WALKER - REGISTRAR OF ELECTORS

    Dana Walker from the Registrar of Electors was in attendance to address the Auckland City Youth Council on youth political participation in Auckland City and the role of the register of electors in the political process. Dana advised the Auckland City Youth Council of the different programmes in schools designed to introduce young people to political participation, particularly 'Kids Voting', and outlined the four electoral roles, particularly the general current role, the Maori electoral role, the unpublished role and the dormant electoral role, for the Youth Council's information.

    1. That Dana Walker be thanked for her presentation regarding youth political participation in Auckland City and the role of the register of electors in the political process.
    2. That Dana Walker be invited to attend the Youth Mayoral Forum to be held in September 2007.

    That the resignation of Zachary Castles be accepted, effective at the end of this meeting.

  6. Top ELECTION OF DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON

    Nominations were called for the Deputy Chairperson role. The following persons were nominated by Auckland City Youth Council members:

    1. Olivia Boddy
    2. Seraphina Kim
    3. Dexter Henderson
    4. Jayran Mansouri

    A ballot was taken for the role with the results declared as follows:

    Moved: Guanting Liu / Zachary Castles

    1. That Seraphina Kim be declared the Deputy Chairperson.
    2. That the ballots be destroyed.

  7. Top COMMUNITY ADVISORS UPDATE

    The Community Advisor advised the Auckland City Youth Council with a website that provides a discussion forum and photos for Auckland City Youth Council members who attended the Regional Youth Leadership Camp for Local Councils camp held 29 June to 31 June 2007, http://groups.google.co.nz/group/converse-connect?hl=en, for their information.

    That the report of the Community Advisor, dated 9 July 2007, be received.

      Advised that he has completed his defensive driving course.

      Advised that she attended to the Model United Nations

      Advised that she attended Youth Parliament in Wellington.

    3. Natasha Sarkar

      Advised that she went on a skiing trip to Queenstown.

      Advised that she attended the Regional Youth Leadership Camp for Local Councils camp held 29 June to 31 June 2007.

    4. Harriet Spratt

      Advised that she attended the Regional Youth Leadership Camp for Local Councils camp held 29 June to 31 June 2007.

    5. Kate Boersen

      Advised that she attended the Regional Youth Leadership Camp for Local Councils camp held 29 June to 31 June 2007 and made some new networks with North Shore City Youth Council.

    6. Samson Tonga

      Advised that he attended the Regional Youth Leadership Camp for Local Councils camp held 29 June to 31 June 2007.

    7. Salim Siddiqui

      Advised that he is in his last semester of university.

    Advised that he attended the Auckland City Youth Council dinner at Waggamama.
