OBITUARY
LINDA LEIGHTON
Councillor Linda Leighton
represented the people of Avondale/Roskill since 1989, initially as a member of
the Mt Roskill community board, then from 1992 to 1998 as Chairperson, and from
2004 as a Councillor. Her involvement with the community went beyond local
government roles, including acting as patron and president of Plunket, being
involved in sports teams and teaching at local schools.
In recent times her health
deteriorated, but not her spirit, which was a source of inspiration to those who
knew and worked with her. Linda has left behind a legacy of many years of
service to the people of Auckland city. Her dedication and hard work will be
remembered, as will her graciousness, consideration for others and tremendous
courage.
A minutes silence will be
observed.

An apology has been received from His Worship the Mayor
Hon. John Banks for non-attendance.
