Mayor of Auckland city
John Banks
A message from the mayor
Aucklanders have sent me a clear message. You want careful spending,
affordable progress and decisive leadership. This is guiding our draft annual
plan, to be approved in June 2008 after we consult further with the public.
The council and I are working hard at keeping your rates as affordable as
possible, while maintaining progress on important projects. We are holding your
rates increases to council audited inflation - 5.1 per cent.
The council I lead is focused on spending your money wisely, and achieving
tangible progress in the city with improved services, a business-friendly
attitude, better transport and infrastructure, world-class events and even
regional governance.
