Auckland City Council and Boffa Miskell has developed the draft concept design, which was consulted on between 2 April and 23 April 2008. We are currently considering the feedback received during consultation. We will compile your feedback and report the results to the council's Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee. This committee will consider your feedback, alongside advice from council officers and specialist advisers, and approve a final concept design.
Why the changes?Beach Road is a key pedestrian link between important CBD destinations such as the Vector Arena and the Britomart Transport Centre. The purpose of the project is to improve the street environment, with a focus on improving pedestrian and traffic safety in light of the additional number of people visiting and living in the area. The project is part of the $157 million, 10-year streetscape and open space upgrade programme that is creating better, high quality public spaces in Auckland's CBD.
