Area of interest on CBD board
- research in Australia has shown that cities with the highest proportion of
advance business services (professional services) demonstrate the highest level
of growth relative to other cities
- world-class cities are the result of large amounts of hard work and don't
just happen.Greater Auckland has grown in an uncoordinated fashion with significant
neglect of infrastructure expenditure from both local and central government.
I will assist with redressing the neglect of our city over many decades
- the importance of ensuring Auckland becomes a world-class city that can attract
and retain highly talented and motivated workers is essential for its economic
growth
- Auckland is competing with Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and beyond for the
world's leading talent. A vibrant advanced business services sector is essential
for a vibrant and growing city; equally, the city must provide a vibrant environment
to attract the talent.
Why I'm passionate about Auckland's CBD
Auckland's CBD has been neglected and has suffered badly from poor town and transport
planning. It is the heart of greater Auckland and the 'face' of Auckland to the
outside world. It is in a wonderful setting that can be made great.
