Area of interest on CBD board
Since 1991, the residential
population of Auckland's CBD has increased 14 fold. CBD residents contribute
strongly to the vibrant culture of the city, and provide a core group for
commerce, arts, cultural and entertainment activities.
The Residents' Advisory Group is
particularly concerned about the following issues:
- pedestrian priority - pedestrians are as important as
motor vehicles
- heritage - the built heritage and the present lack of
tree scheduling in the CBD
- mandatory 'notified' CBD resource and building consents,
and the abolition of 'non-notified' consents within the CBD
- mandatory one parking space per residential unit in all
future CBD multiple dwelling (apartment) residential building consents.
Why I'm passionate about Auckland's
CBD
The CBD has many wonderful
attributes, such as proximity to the sea, rich history, vibrant social and
cultural offerings, internationally ranked higher education, and the strong
economic growth of the Auckland region. With careful planning, the CBD can
become an even better place for residents.
