Quay Street upgrade
The Quay Street upgrade has created a safer, more attractive and well-connected
pedestrian route between the viaduct, Vector Arena and Tamaki Drive.
Completed in 2007, key features include:
- new pohutakawa trees to reflect coastal vegetation
- new footpaths, street furniture
- an extension of the cycleway linking the ferry building with Tamaki Drive
- lighting improvements
- restoration of the historic blue fence around the landing.
The upgrade is a part of
Auckland City Council's 10-year programme to transform and revitalise the CBD to create one of the
world's most vibrant and dynamic business and cultural centres
