  • Queen Street is 1.8km long.
  • The first wooden buildings were erected along the western side of Queen Street in 1841.
  • Around 300,000 people walk along Queen Street at any given week.
  • Approximately 40,000 basalt pavers and 4,500 kerbstones will be laid during the upgrade.
  • Each basalt kerbstone weighs 48.6kg.
  • Dominion Constructors will have two site teams working on the upgrade - one working on stage 1 and moving onto stage 3 and the other for stage 2 and 4.
  • There will be between 30 and 60 contractors working on the upgrade at any one time.
