Auckland's CBD Into the future strategy
- Auckland City has embarked on a journey to transform and revitalise its
CBD as an internationally successful city centre - one that offers
world-class experiences and lifestyles but is distinctly Auckland.
- Auckland's CBD Into the future strategy is the guiding document for this
transformation. It sets out a bold and ambitious vision for the CBD and
provides a framework for projects that will revitalise Auckland's CBD as the
prosperous and vital heart of New Zealand's leading city.
- Helping to fund this transformation is the CBD targeted rate, which
enables projects to happen much faster and will result in a dramatic change
in the look and feel of the CBD within a three to 10 year timeframe.
- The council has committed to an ambitious $100 million 10-year programme
to transform our streets and open spaces to those befitting a world-class
city. Already Karangahape Road, Quay Street and Lorne Street are being
transformed.
