The upgrade of Vulcan Lane was completed in 2007, retaining its unique character and ambience as
one of the oldest streets in the city centre.
The introduction of Nikau palms, new street furniture and lighting and restored and replica paving has created a safe, attractive and spacious lane for people to shop and socialise in.
The upgrade is part of Auckland City Council's 10-year streetscape and open space upgrade programme that is creating higher quality public spaces in the central business district.
