Stepping Up leadership forum
Accessing leadership potential
A programme that aims to develop the leadership potential and future of disabled
Aucklanders and their communities is taking place from July to September.
One hundred people from the disabled community and other Auckland city stakeholders
are taking part over the eight-session forum that has been designed and developed
by Auckland City Council and independent Leadership Development consultant, Lesley
Slade.
Input was also sought from AUT University, as well as disability organisations,
IHC and Yes Ability.
The forum has three stages:
- the first stage will have 100 people starting the leadership "conversation";
- the second stage will see 25 of the 100 people selected by their peers to
further develop their skills and develop a leadership plan; and
- the third stage will see the chosen 25 present their action plan back to
the larger group.
