Elliott Street and Darby Street upgrade
Feedback
Public consultation
Consultation on the draft designs for Elliott and Darby streets was held in 2009. Initial plans to turn Darby Street into a pedestrian mall were changed to shared space following feedback from public consultation. Darby Street was then consulted on and approved as a shared space in 2010.
Public feedback as well as advice from specialist advisers was considered following both consultations and incorporated into the final design.
Changes and refinements to the design include:
- additional tactile indicators to assist the visually impaired
- a new random paving pattern to improve the look of the street and aid
maintenance.
