Glenside South Reserve

Glenside South Reserve is a small area of land on Upper Symonds Street, close to Hohipere Street, Grafton.

A concept plan was developed to provide an area of recreational open space for local residents and visitors.

An upgrade of the reserve was completed in May 2007.

Concept plan

Following consultation with local residents and businesses, a final concept plan for the reserve was developed.

The key features of this plan include:

  • a network of paths through the reserve
  • a paved area with views out to Rangitoto and the harbour
  • provision of a sculptural concrete seat, as well as timber seats and picnic tables
  • retention of the existing Queensland box tree and planting of medium-sized native and exotic trees
  • climbers and hedges installed to soften solid walls and fences on the boundary of the reserve
  • wide lawn areas for informal active recreation
  • signage to increase awareness of the reserve.
