Introduction
Auckland City Council has endorsed a master plan to guide the future
development of the park. This was endorsed following public consultation.
The master plan was created after the council placed a notice for requirement
for a designation on the Monte Cecilia land in 1998, to protect it for future use as a public park.
The council
has since acquired a number of parcels of land, bringing the area in public ownership up to 12.65ha, including Pah Homestead.
The park is
open to the public and is located between Mt Albert Road, Hillsborough Road, Korma Road and Herd Road.
The park features outstanding established grounds with notable trees, architecture and cultural history. It is a
city (premier) park
and the council aims to see it developed as a park of regional significance, similar in stature and maturity to Albert Park, Cornwall Park and the
Auckland Domain.
