Site characteristics

Location

The land is located between Herd, Mt Albert, Hillsborough and Pah Roads.

Landscape character

Landform

The landform is distinctive and creates elevated areas which enjoy extensive views to the north, including the area around Three Kings and Maungakiekie (One Tree Hill) to the east across Onehunga; and the south to Mangere Mountain and the Manukau Harbour. The land also has a sheltered north-easterly facing slope, bordering the open space fields of Marcellin College and Seymour Park.

Scheduled items

The land was originally part of the historic Pah Farm, and has one of the finest collections of large and rare exotic trees in Auckland City, some of which are on Auckland City's Schedule of Notable Trees. Pah Homestead itself is a Category A protected building in the District Plan, including a protected surround to the building and protected viewshaft between the front of the building and Pah Road. The building is also classified B on the Historic Places Register. Pah Stables and surround is also protected under the District Plan.
