Mountain fountain relocation
The popular Mountain Fountain water sculpture is set to have a new home in the grounds of
the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell.
The sculpture was removed from Aotea Square in October 2008, due to the square's redevelopment.
A decision was taken to relocate the sculpture and the public was asked to provide input on its new location.
The Parnell site was chosen out of two final options. The fountain fits in well with the architecture of the
cathedral and the design of the forecourt. It also fulfils architect Professor
Toy's original vision for the cathedral - to have an art work located next to it.
The fountain is scheduled to be moved to this new location in May 2010.
