Resource consent application process

An application for resource consent for the new planting on the One Tree Hill summit was lodged with Auckland City Environments. Also submitted with the application was an assessment of effects on the environment caused by the replacement of the tree.

In March 2001, the consent was publicly notified and the following process took place

  • there was a 30 working day period during which members of the public were able to make submissions on the application
  • once the submissions were received, a report was prepared by Auckland City Environments for the independently-appointed commissioners who considered the planting plan
  • a hearing was held during August 2001, followed by the commissioners' decision to grant the resource consent
  • there was a 15 working day period for appeals to be lodged
  • no appeals were received
