The masterplan
Plans to transform Orakei peninsula
into a high quality, mixed-use community are underway.
The draft master plan for the
development of Orakei Peninsula will be reported to the October 2009 meeting of the
City Development Committee prior to notification of a plan change for public
consultation.
The master plan is a further
refinement of earlier proposals for the site and has been prepared by the
Leuschke Group.
The proposed development of the
peninsula is a partnership between the Redwood Group, the Equinox Group and
Auckland City Council.
The vision for this area is for a
large mixed use community, anchored by a new transport hub consisting of a
state-of-the-art train station, and dedicated bus and car drop off.
The proposal includes generous
public open space and waterfront access available to all Aucklanders as well as
on-site residents.
Affected residents in the eastern
suburbs have been consulted and kept up to date on plans for the site,
particularly over such issues as building heights, road access and traffic
management.
