Background
Auckland City and the Eden Albert Community Board are working towards the future development of the site at 56-60 Owairaka
Avenue as a park - a gathering place for the community and a place where there are recreation opportunities available for all.
The aim is to provide a variety of dedicated activity areas with opportunities for a diverse range of recreational activities
in the middle of Mt Albert.
Auckland City Council approved the allocation of the $1.645 million to develop the site at 52-60 Owairaka Avenue into a
multi-purpose community park with both informal and active recreation areas.
Community consultation in June 2004 resulted in 53 submissions and 25 visitors to the open day held at the Mt Albert
Community Centre. A very positive response was received with the majority of submissions supporting the park's development.
Several amendments were made to the concept design resulting from the community consultation process. See
