Owairaka Avenue reserve development

Auckland City Council and the Eden Albert Community Board are developing the site at 52-60 Owairaka Avenue, Mt Albert as a park.

The council approved the allocation of the $1.645 million for this development. This will create a community gathering place with a variety of areas with opportunities for a diverse range of recreational activities.

After consulting with the community in 2008, the reserve has been officially named Owairaka Park.

Stage one of the development was completed in October 2008. The works comprised of:

new car park
1/4 basketball courts
expansive grassed area for informal play
network of paths around the park
new community gardens

Stage two will be completed by July 2009 and will comprise of a playground, skatepark and novaloo toilet.
