Ponsonby Pocket Park
The Western Bays Community Board has funded a project from their
Small Local Improvement
Project (SLIPs) funding to improve the seating and planted area at the
corner of Anglesea Street and Ponsonby Road.
The project involves the removal of the existing trees and vegetation and
replacing them with new native plants and three Magnolia trees. Lighting will be
placed under each of the Magnolia trees to further enhance the area. The seating
and paved area along Ponsonby Road will be remodelled and improved.
Work will be completed in early December 2009, weather dependant. All work
will be undertaken within normal business hours and every effort will be made to
minimise disruption to the public and surrounding residents.
This small park is one of the few along Ponsonby Road to offer an informal
seating area. This project will enhance the character and identity
of the local area and improved lighting will offer greater safety.
