Pt England Reserve
Public consultation on the proposal to change the flight area of the Tamaki

The proposal sees the flying area relocated further away from residential

The proposed new airstrip will make flying the model aircraft easier and
safer. It will also benefit properties neighbouring the reserve as the proposed
area is located further away from residential properties and in a more down-wind
position.
The proposed changes will:
- reduce the noise of the club's flying activities for neighbours
- increase the size of the flying area
- make flying the model aircrafts easier and safer, especially during
take-off and landing
- allow larger aircraft to fly at the field (larger models generally make
less noise due to the slower spinning of their propellers)
- not infringe on the no-flying zones
- increase the number of unmarked carparks from six to 14, allowing club
members to park close to the airstrip.
Relocating the airstrip will require a change in the club’s current resource
consent conditions and the Point England Reserve Management Plan.
Works required to move the airstrip will involve the relocation of the
existing post and wire fence and the extension of the vehicle access track to
the new airfield. Minor earthworks will be required to roll and level the new
airstrip and create the vehicle access track.
