Benefits and costs

Benefits

  • A positive impact through business growth and a stronger identity for the area.
  • The ability of the business development community to hire full time staff to professionally manage the programme.
  • More effective advocacy to address issues and planning, such as traffic and zoning, that affect the Rosebank business area.
  • Easier access to additional funding such as corporate sponsors, lottery grants as well as Auckland City Council's SLIPs (small local improvement projects) and CAPEX funding (capital works funding).

Cost

  • Each property in the area pays an additional targeted rate.
  • The targeted rate for each property is based on a calculation of the number of businesses in the community, the rateable value of each property and the size of the proposed budget for the programme.

Safety award for Rosebank

In August 2006, the Rosebank business development community was awarded a community safety award for the Rosebank Business Precinct Security and Crime Prevention Initiative. This programme has made a long-term and sustained commitment to crime prevention and improving safety in the area.
