Funding and management
If the vote for a business development community is successful then Auckland
City Council levies all commercial properties in that area with a targeted rate
to raise funding to support the business development community programme.
The business development community programme is then designed and run by
businesses for businesses in that area. A Business Development Community
Management Committee (usually the local business association) is mandated to
manage the programme and the funds received from the targeted rate levy.
In the case of Rosebank, the Rosebank Business
Association (RBA) undertakes this management role. Members of the business
community eligible to vote in the area, vote in the committee.
A local councillor and community board representative are also members of the
management committee.
