Shore Road ReserveProposed indoor training facility | Auckland City reserve upgrade Proposed indoor training facility
Application to build indoor training facility on Shore Road ReserveRemuera Parnell Sports Community Charitable Trust (in conjunction with Parnell Cricket and Grammar Rugby Clubs) is seeking permission from Auckland City, as landowners, to build an indoor training facility next to the existing clubrooms. Shore Road Reserve is a sports park with a rugby field and cricket pitches. Most of the reserve is zoned for active recreation (Open Space 3) with the coastal margin zoned for passive recreation (Open Space 2).The Parnell Cricket Club wishes to have the facility on their home ground to support their existing activities and to use during wet weather, when grounds are closed and for coaching during the off-season. The trust will pay for this facility and all future building maintenance costs. The facility would house three indoor cricket nets, and be similar in size to the existing clubrooms (approximately 40m long, 13.4m wide and 5.4m high). It is intended to be used as a training facility, not an event facility, and would primarily be used by the Parnell Cricket Club. Maximum hours of use applied for by the club are:
The facility will be available for other clubs or schools when not in use. At this stage, the Hobson Community Board and the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee feel that the proposed nature and location for the facility is appropriate and would like input from the community before a final decision is made. The applicationTwo approvals from the council are required:
There are four stages to the decision making process:
The trust may need to provide additional car parks. These would be close to the new building in the proposed car parking area (see concept plan). Any other possible impacts on the environment will be assessed at the resource consent stage, these impacts may include traffic movements, noise, visual impacts and other environmental concerns.
