Burial areas: This cemetery is divided into areas of headstone style. Currently there is a choice between the Upright Headstone area and the Raised Plaque Headstone area. Each plot measures 1.2 x 2.4 metres and may be dug extra depth to allow for a second burial. Plots may be pre-purchased for the 'Exclusive Right of Burial for 60 years'. This cemetery also has a Baby Burial row. A burial takes place in the next plot available and the area allows for a choice of memorial style.

Ash interment areas: Waikaraka Cemetery has two options for ash interments:

  • the Ashes Lawn - plots may be pre-purchased. These plots allow for the interment of up to four urns of ashes and there is a choice of memorial allowed
  • the Ashes Memorial Gardens -plots allow for the interment of up to two urns of ashes. The memorial must be a flat plaque 360 x 230 mm and either bronze or polished edge granite.

There are two Military areas - a Military Cemetery with burial and ash interment areas, and an area dedicated for the burials and ash interments of members of the Onehunga Returned Services Association.
