Vehicle crossings
The initial construction of a vehicle crossing, including the cost of construction, is your responsibility and you are required to get a permit for this. On-going maintenance of vehicle crossings in Auckland city is the council's responsibility. How to applyA separate permit is required for the construction of each new vehicle crossing or alteration to an existing vehicle crossing. Customers must lodge their application for a permit by post or in person at council offices in Graham Street, or at the Waiheke Island Service Centre. There is a non-refundable application fee of $230, which covers the processing and inspection charges. All applications must be on the correct form and include the following information:

A resource consent may be required should the proposed vehicle crossing infringe any district plan rules. We recommend that you contact us to discuss your proposal before submitting your application. Once the permit has been approved, it is valid for three months. Works must be carried out within this time period or the permit will lapse and you will need to reapply.
