It has been in effect since 1 July 2005. The policy includes development contributions for community facilities, open space and stormwater. The policy provided a six-month transition window. This means that some consent applications that were accepted for lodgement on or before 31 December 2005 were not charged development contributions. See which policy applies for more information on transition, including possible transition to later policies. The charges (2005 policy)Development contributions are charged when Auckland City grants building or resource consents for residential and non-residential developments. The charges will depend on the location of the site being developed and the type of development. Credits against these charges will be available for previous payments of financial or development contributions, and in some cases for prior development on the site.
These charges may change in future. Residential developments on the isthmus excluding the CBD(Applies to the area subject to the isthmus section of the district plan) These developments will be charged all of the following development contributions.
The charges related to the purchase of open space are based, for a subdivision, on 7.5 per cent of the average value of all post-development allotments. The policy allows for reductions in the stormwater contributions for multi-storey apartment buildings. Residential developments within the CBD(Applies to the area subject to the central area section of the district plan) These developments will be charged all of the following development contributions.
The policy allows for reductions in the stormwater contributions for multi-storey apartment buildings. These developments will continue to be subject to the current financial contributions provisions for open space (part 8 of the central area section of the district plan). Non-residential developments(Applies to anywhere in the Auckland isthmus including the CBD). These developments will be charged development contributions only for stormwater.
