Which policy applies
A consent application may be subject to financial contributions,
or to the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 or 2010 policies. The
arrangements for transition between these policies are included in section 9 of
each policy.
If you know when the consent application was accepted for lodgement you can work out how the transition will apply using the links
below.
When was the consent accepted for lodgement?
On or after 1 January 2010
This consent may be subject to development contributions in full, in terms
of the 2009 policy, or it may be subject to the
2010 policy. The 2010 policy includes the per-unit
charges from previous policies and the dates over which those charges applied.
It will be used for all assessments carried out from 1 July 2010.
Consent accepted for lodgement between 1 July 2009 and
31 December 2009
Do either of the following apply?
- the development is within the Hauraki Gulf islands, and one or more consent
applications (which were subject to financial contributions or development
contributions under an earlier policy) for the same development had been
accepted for lodgement before 1 July 2009, and have not lapsed
- the development is within the Hauraki Gulf islands, and for non-residential
developments only, one or more consent applications for the same development had
been accepted for lodgement before 1 July 2009, and either have not yet been
granted, or were granted on or after 1 July 2004, and have not lapsed.
If "yes", then the development is considered to be within the transition window
provided for developments on the gulf islands. In this case, this consent will
be subject to the 2008 policy.
If "no", then this consent will be subject to development contributions in full,
in terms of the 2009 policy.
For the avoidance of doubt, where a consent relates to a stage of a development
other than one for which a financial contribution or development contribution
under an earlier policy was required, full development contributions as provided
for in the 2009 policy may be required for that other stage.
Consent accepted for lodgement between 1 January 2009 and 30 June 2009
This consent will be subject to development contributions in full, in terms of
the 2008 policy.

contributions under an earlier policy) for the same development had been
