Don't forget to take something with you to remove faeces when exercising
your dog, eg pooper scooper, plastic bag. Dog faeces should be disposed of in bins. Failing to do so may result
in a fine.
"City-wide time restrictions" apply to some dog
exercise areas. This means dogs can only be exercised off the leash between
certain hours.

City-wide time restrictions
Time restrictions have been applied as a way to allow everyone access to
parks and reserves. In the majority of
cases where time restrictions have been applied, the park contains a playground,
the park is small or the park forms part of a school route. Dogs can only be
exercised off the leash between the hours of

Dogs on beaches
Check Part 12.3 of the
bylaw for details on where and when dogs are allowed on beaches.
Auckland City Council has jurisdiction to mean low water springs covering the
foreshore area between low and high tide.
We work hard to balance the needs of the wider community - many
dog owners like to exercise their dogs on beaches, however others want to use
beaches without having to encounter dogs.
