Property files
If you're planning to buy a property or currently own one and want to know
more about it, a good place to start is the property file.
Auckland City Council holds a file for every property within the city's
boundaries, containing records such as building consents, private drainage plans
and swimming pool compliance. The property file may also hold information that
does not appear on a LIM such as plans and correspondence.
Information available
Please note: The information available on file depends on relevance to
the property (eg liquor, swimming pool and environmental health) and whether
there has been any development activity since the original dwelling was
constructed.

Historic properties
A property is made historic in council records when a cross lease or
subdivision of the property occurs and new titles have been allocated to the new
lots. If you order the property file CD, you will only receive documents that
pertain to the current title.
Historic property information is available for viewing by
visiting an Auckland City service centre.
