Food safety

Introduction

The current food hygiene legislation is under review by the New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA).

It is likely that all food businesses will soon need to adopt a food safety plan to ensure the safety of the food on their premises.

In order to help food businesses in Auckland prepare for this change, and to improve standards in the food businesses throughout the city, Auckland City Council is encouraging businesses to start developing some basic food safety policies.

This page contains advice on a wide range of policies that you may wish to adopt and we have provided some examples of how to document and monitor these procedures.

These forms are available for you to download and can be altered to suit your own business, however there is no requirement to use any of these resources. Smaller businesses may find that recording information in a daily diary is more convenient for them.
