Grants and funding

Auckland City Council provides various types of assistance to help ensure the needs of Auckland's diverse community groups are being met. This assistance includes grants and funding for the arts, community groups and projects within Auckland City Council boundaries.

  Community Board Discretionary Funding: To assist community groups and other voluntary organisations operating within their communities.
• Community Group Accommodation Support Fund: Funding available to assist with accommodation costs.
• Community Group Assistance Fund (CGAF): Funding available for community groups with a citywide focus.
• Arts Alive funding scheme: For professional performing artists and organisations.
• Creative Communities: For community projects that provide opportunities for active participation in the arts. This fund is provided by Creative New Zealand.
• Cultural heritage fund: To assist people to conserve, restore and protect aspects of Auckland's built heritage.
• Natural heritage grant: For conservation projects on private land in the Hauraki Gulf Islands.
• One Tree Hill Jubilee Educational Trust: For education or educational advancement in the One Tree Hill area.
• Road safety Community Focused Activites: For groups and organisations interested in delivering road safety initiatives in their community
• Small Local Improvement Projects (SLIPs): small projects that can help to improve local surroundings or provide opportunities to the community.
• Strategic relationship fund: Provides larger and longer-term grants to enable groups to plan and build sustainable initiatives for the future.
• Facility partnership scheme: to assist the development of strategic community facilities for the city.
• Discount on hall hire: if you are a non-profit group or organisation you may qualify for a discount on your hall hireage costs.
• Business and industry events: to support business and industry events that contribute to the economic vitality of the city.
• Events sponsorship and promotion: we both provide and seek sponsorship for events.

• Free online presence: The People's Times offers community groups an online presence by providing them with their own free web page with built-in tools, storage space and a unique URL (web address)
• Promote your event free: you can publicise your event on Auckland City Council's website alongside the city's major events, festivals and things to do.
• NZLive.com: A cultural funding guide, developed by Creative NZ, Te Papa and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
• Rates payment assistance: Options available for assistance with payment of rates.
• The Lion Foundation: A charitable trust that exists for the purpose of raising funds for the community.
