Community Group Accommodation Support Fund

Introduction | Funding guidelines | Additional information | Funds allocated for 2007

Introduction

Auckland City Council recognises that community groups, through their wide range of activities, make a major contribution to our diverse city.

The community group accommodation support fund was created to support eligible community groups so that their accommodation costs do not compromise their ability to deliver their services effectively.

The priorities of the fund are:

  • to support groups that have a demonstrated financial need for assistance
  • to assist sustainable groups that will be responsible for public monies
  • to support a broad range of accommodation costs
  • to support a broad range of community groups
  • to support community groups whose activities or services provide demonstrable benefit to residents of the Auckland region
  • to support community groups that promote and support diversity in terms of ethnicity, culture, age, ability and lifestyle.

Funds available for distribution

The community group accommodation support fund has $1.7 million available for distribution annually in one round.

The funding granted will not necessarily cover a group's total accommodation cost, although groups are encouraged to apply for their total eligible costs.

See also the community group assistance policy which covers the various types of assistance it gives to community groups, including grants.
