Introduction

Auckland City Council recognises that community groups, through their wide range of activities, make a major contribution to our diverse city.

The community board local fund was created to support the processes and activities that enable people to get together and work to improve their communities.

Funding is granted to increase the opportunities and choices of people of all cultures and incomes in community services and facilities, culture, leisure, sports and arts.

The priorities of the fund are

  • to increase the number of people involved in community, sport and recreational activities
  • to promote and support diversity in terms of ethnicity, culture, age, ability and lifestyle
  • to encourage activities that allow communities to express their diversity
  • to assist activities that encourage and support volunteers
  • to support innovative approaches to meet new community needs
  • to support activities that address disadvantage or respond to particular needs
  • to assist sustainable groups that will be accountable for public monies.
