Timetable for your street

Residential grass verges throughout Auckland city (excluding Waiheke and Great Barrier islands) are mowed every four weeks.

If you live within the Auckland city boundaries you can check when your grass verge is scheduled to be mowed next.

Please enter your street or road name only in the field below.
(Do not enter the word 'street', 'road', etc).

TopAbout our service

Auckland City Council is the only city council in the Auckland region providing a regular maintenance service for residential grass verges.

Mowers do not catch the clippings or remove clumps of cut grass. Occasionally these may spill onto the footpath or street but the contractors are not required to remove them.

The council strives to keep grass verges mowed to a tidy length, while compensating for the unevenness of the ground. If you would prefer a higher quality finish outside your property you can opt to maintain the grass verge yourself.

Contact us to register on the No Mow list for your area. The council's contractors are directed not to mow verges obviously being maintained by the residents.

Why mowing can't be completed

Our contractors work to a tight schedule to complete the entire city every four weeks.

They are not able to return to mow your verge where:

  • vehicle(s) were parked on the verge
  • dumped rubbish or other obstacles were left on the verge.

Please contact us if you need help to rectify the problem before your next scheduled mow.

Other reasons your verge may not be mowed are when:

  • continual rain or a water main burst means mowing would causing serious damage
  • reinstatement following works is incomplete and/or new grass is not mature enough to mow.

In these instances, mowing will resume as soon as it is practical.

TopDamage to your grass verge

Damage can occur from a variety of causes all of which Auckland City Council take seriously.

Upgrade projects impact on the condition of the grass verge. All contractors including Metrowater and Vector will reinstate the grass verge at the completion of the project. The nature of the work may cause some settling or ground movement. Monitoring of this work is carried out by Auckland City Council and the contractors.

Damage caused by residential building works may be chargeable under the terms of the complying consents in place.

Contact us to report:

  • damage caused by footpath or other utility upgrades, including work carried out by Metrowater or Vector
  • any vehicle or resident damage. After assessment, action will be taken accordingly.
