At the pool complex, swim laps or have fun in summer in the outdoor pools, hydro-slide, diving boards, and adventure playground. The outdoor area and gardens with barbecues and shaded picnic tables are great for family picnics and functions.

Indoors is a lane pool, and an extra warm private teaching pool for swim lessons, with programmes designed for both children and adults - ranging from water confidence through to squad training.

The fitness centre has three studios; strength - including free and machine weights, aerobics - a variety of classes and boxing area, cardio - large selection of cardiovascular training equipment. Qualified and experienced staff and personal trainers can help you reach your goals. You can relax after your workout in the spa or sauna, or make use of the facilities sunbeds.

At the stadium situated across the road on Lagoon Drive, Panmure, there is also heaps to do for kids including 'Kindy Gym' and 'Kiwi Gym' for 2 to 9 year olds, holiday programmes and basketball clinics. The stadium also has adult basketball and indoor soccer leagues available in the evening.

There is a function room for hire at the centre, suitable for conferences, birthdays and wedding receptions.

Access and parking improvements

Auckland City Council is planning to implement design and construction changes at the Lagoon Leisure and Fitness Centre. The following changes will improve access and security:

A link road - created to connect the Lagoon Drive and Cleary Road car parks. Users will no longer have to travel via the roundabout, Ireland Road or Cleary Road to enter the Cleary Road car park. The link road will be pedestrian friendly and designed to encourage slow traffic. It will allow access to both car parks from Lagoon Drive.

Improved safety - the Cleary Road car park is currently under-used as it is isolated from the centre's entrance and users have to access the centre via a narrow walkway.

Safer pedestrian routes from the car parks - with adequate parking, increased pedestrian areas, increased lighting and better visibility throughout the car parks.

Improved access to the Lagoon Drive car park - access will be reconfigured so that cars travelling from the roundabout on Lagoon Drive can safely enter or exit the Lagoon Drive car park without having to make a u-turn.

The proposed changes will encourage public use of the facility, the car parks and help eliminate vandalism. All work will take place in 2010/2011 except for the work to improve access to the Lagoon Drive car park, which is proposed to take place after 2014.
