Throughout the summer the whole family can enjoy Pt Erin's outdoor recreation facilities. A large main pool, diving well (with slide and diving boards), spa pool, sauna, basketball and volleyball court, barbecue area and children's playground are nestled among pohutukawa trees. There is plenty of room to spread out on the surrounding grass, or relax in the sun on the reclining deck chairs.

The facility has breathtaking views of the Waitemata Harbour and Auckland Harbour Bridge. It is the perfect place for the family, providing a welcoming opportunity to relax, enjoy, make friends, keep fit and learn to swim.

Community Leisure Management (CLM) operates and manages Pt Erin Pool on behalf of Auckland City Council.

Pt Erin Pool redevelopment - Request for expression of interest (EOI)

The council is issuing a request for expressions of interest (EOI) to gauge the private sectors interest in redeveloping and operating Pt Erin Pool. This project is proposed to the market as a long-term management agreement or a design, build, finance and operate (DBFO) agreement for up to 30 years.

The EOI period commences 2 February 2010 and closes 5 March 2010. Interested parties can contact Doug Moffet on 09 3792020 to obtain the EOI documents.

Key points
  • Pt Erin Pools is one of council's two exclusively outdoor pools
  • built in 1962, the facility is in need of redevelopment
  • we would like to see the facility operate all year round through the addition of indoor facilities
  • the EOI period commences 2 February 2010 and closes 5 March 2010.

The proposal is to add an additional indoor component so that the facility can better meet the needs of a broader section of the community by providing learn to swim and/or health and fitness activities. Initial cost assessments indicate that a total of $8m - $12m is required to complete the redevelopment to meet the council's minimum requirements for this project.
