Dumped rubbish

Rubbish dumped in our parks, along our roadsides and in other public areas not only detracts from the appearance of our city, but can also pose a health and safety risk. As Auckland City is responsible for the removal of illegally dumped rubbish, you can contact us to request the removal of rubbish dumped in the following areas:

  • on the footpath
  • on the berm (the grass strip between the road and the footpath)
  • on the road/street
  • in a park
  • on a cycle path
  • outside commercial premises
  • on neighbouring property.

Please note: rubbish dumped on private property is the responsibility of the property owner.

To help us rectify the problem as soon as possible, try and provide us with as much of the following information as you can:

  1. The exact location of the problem
  2. The type of rubbish it is (eg hard rubbish, food rubbish, building materials, etc)
  3. The approximate quantity of rubbish (eg two bags)
  4. Whether it is a health hazard
  5. Details about who dumped the rubbish if you know.
