Waste education for schools
Project ideas for schools
- displays - educate students and share a waste and recycling message by putting up displays in your school library, hall or reception area
- posters - run a poster competition to encourage everyone at school to think about waste and recycling, and ask a local business to provide a prize
- newsletters - use the school newsletter to tell students, teachers and parents what they can do to reduce their waste eg. give tips about how to
make a 'Litterless Lunch'
- morning notices - if your school has morning notices use the opportunity
to broadcast recycling messages such as 'Remember to put the right rubbish
in the right bin'; or give updates on how they are going with towards their
recycling targets
- find out about local projects - you can join in on such projects as the Trees
for Survival
www.tfsnz.org.nz
- bottle liquid from your worm farm - make labels and sell it back to your parents as a fantastic fertilizer for their gardens!
- have the students research and develop a 'policy' for your school such as:
- a green procurement policy
- a zero-waste policy.
