Targeted rates charges for large residential complexes

Auckland City Council's current rating policy allows large residential complexes that choose not to use the council's rubbish service to be exempted from the targeted rate for refuse collection. This is specific to sites where there are 10 or more individual rates assessments (ie apartment blocks) within the same complex.

From 1 July 2010 the targeted rate for refuse collection will increase from $183 to $185 as set in the annual plan. See Your rates for 2010/2011 (Uniform charges) for more information.

Remission of rates for an approved refuse service

From 1 July 2010, these properties will be charged the full refuse and recycling collection targeted rate, but will be eligible for a new remission policy that remits the rubbish collection component and the recycling component of the charge.
