Street lighting
Auckland City provides and maintains street lighting on public streets and in suburban open air carparks.
You can contact
us with any enquiry regarding street lighting, including the following
issues:
- Lights not working.
- Lights left on during the day.
- Lights left off at night or with incorrect timings.
- Damaged lights - particularly if it is causing a safety hazard.
- Electric pole with street light knocked over.
- Nuisance caused by positioning of light.
- Lights being obscured by trees.
- Dim or outdated lighting.
- A need for stronger or additional lights.
To ensure the issue is resolved quickly, please provide us with as much of the following information as you can:
- The exact location of the
street light - ie the house number and street name that the streetlight is
outside / opposite, any identifying feature or landmark.
- A description of the
problem - eg not sufficient light, light is not working, the pole is down.
- For light nuisance, the
number of the house that is affected, the side of the road the light is on
and which room of the house the light is affecting eg upstairs.
Moving or removing street lights
No street light can be
removed completely. If a light is to be moved, it can only be moved a maximum of 1
metre. In some cases the street light cannot be moved at all. The
cost to move the street light must be borne by the person requesting the move.
