Performances involving dangerous materials or objects

Any performances involving dangerous materials, objects or animals require a special street performance permit (SSPP).

  • SSPPs are free and valid for four months

  • all general conditions applying to street performance licences apply to the SSPP

  • SSPPs are issued to individuals and not groups. Each performer in a group must hold a current SSPP if they are to handle dangerous materials or objects.

  • a SSPP may be withdrawn if any of the conditions of the street performance licence is not meet. Any performer whose permit is withdrawn is not eligible to reapply for at least one year.

To obtain a SSPP a health and safety review is required. The purpose of the review is to assess the performer's awareness of safety principles and in some cases view the actual performance. Contact us to enquire about the review process for special street performance permits.
