To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, Auckland Council Archives has developed this exhibition and timeline featuring material from the Council Archives collections. In addition, our volunteers have transcribed and researched the names from several WWI memorials and rolls of honour from across the Auckland region and these are available here to search. Please use the tabs on the panel to the left to navigate and explore these resources.

About this timeline

This timeline features excerpts from the official minute books of many of the local authorities in existence in the Auckland region during the First World War to provide an insight into how Auckland reacted and contributed to the war effort. The timeline will be added to for each year of the WWI commemorations.

For further information about the timeline or to view the original minute books from which the excerpts were taken, please contact Auckland Council Archives.
