Waitemata County Council wine licensing applications 1916-1934

This index database contains transcribed information from a Waitemata County Council file on wine licensing regarding applications for wine making licences. In 1914 the Government passed a bill requiring winemakers to be licensed and placed restrictions on how much they could sell.1 The applicant would pay a fee at their local Magistrate's Court and in return would be issued a licence. The Magistrate's Court would then distribute the fees collected to the local authorities in whose district the licensed premises were situated.

The following details are recorded in the index database: date, name of applicant, locality and the fee paid.

The database is searchable by name, locality and year. Use the Browse button or drop-down lists to browse the contents of these fields.

This database is a full transcript of entries contained on the file. For further information, please contact Auckland Council Archives.
